24 ROADS FOR LAGOS EAST: ABIRU’s UNPRECEDENTED INFRASTRUCTURE STRIDES GATHER MOMENTUM

9 Roads delivered already

The Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District, Distinguished Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA, has once again demonstrated his commitment to people-focused leadership as he delivered 9 completed roads and set machinery in motion for the construction of 15 additional ones, bringing the total number of road projects under his watch to 24 across Lagos East.

On Monday, Senator Abiru embarked on an inspection tour of the completed roads, which include Ojokoro Road (Agric), Nurudeen Owolabi, Alogba (Lowa), Apena Jimbo, Jalajugbo, Ibu Owo, Agunfoye, Ojediran, and Andu/Oshikoya. The visit turned into a celebration as residents, community leaders, and motorists trooped out to welcome the Senator with songs of appreciation for his timely intervention.

For communities still awaiting relief, the Senator reassured them that construction works would commence on another 15 roads before the end of the year. These include: Soji Oshodi/Mutairu/Okeme Street, Pedro (Somolu/Bariga); Olulonyo–Ebuwawa Road, Agbede (Ikorodu North); Utuh Street, Akanimodo, Mile 12 (Agboyi-Ketu); Ondo Street, Ajegunle (Agboyi-Ketu); Otolu–Ilagbo (Lekki); Rala/Oshokeji Street, Ketu (Epe); GRA 2 Road, Alogba; Dagbolu Road; Sikiru Musa Road, Ibonwon (Eredo); Ojuemuren Road linking Ita-Oloja/Express (Ikorodu North LCDA); and Francis Okon Street linking Ijede Road to Ikorodu/Itoikin Highway.

In addition, the second phases of Ojokoro Road and Agunfoye Road will also be delivered.

Speaking during the tour, Senator Abiru reaffirmed his resolve to spread development equitably across all 16 LGAs and LCDAs of Lagos East. According to him:

“These projects are about easing the daily struggles of our people, opening up communities for economic opportunities, and restoring dignity through improved infrastructure. I am humbled by the feedback and even more determined to keep doing good.”

Community leaders hailed the Senator’s intervention, describing the projects as a “transformative touch” in their localities. Nonagenarian Alhaji Jimoh Folorunsho Alogba, 92, expressed heartfelt gratitude:

“We never thought we would see this road fixed in record time. Senator Abiru has given us hope that responsive leadership still exists.”

Another resident, Mutiu Abiodun Banjo, lauded what he called Abiru’s “listening representation”:

“We raised this concern not too long ago, and today he is here with the completed work. This is leadership in action.”

Beyond roads, Abiru continues to drive development in education, health, empowerment, and social support. Through his SAIL Innovation Lab and Empowerment Foundation, hundreds of youths are being trained in tech and digital skills, many of whom are already gainfully employed.

As contractors prepare to mobilize for the next phase of projects, residents across Lagos East say the Senator’s #DoingGood mantra has gone beyond words, becoming a tangible reality in their daily lives.
