Cash Scarcity: CBN to flood banks with old naira notes

The Central Bank of Nigeria has concluded plans to release the N1,000, N500 and N200 notes in its custody to Deposit Money Banks, based on a report from the PUNCH Newspaper. This decision is expected to end months of hardships and pains Nigerians have been going through following the controversial CBN naira redesign policy that has caused a severe shortage of old and new naira notes across the country. The CBN’s latest decision came several weeks after the Supreme Court ordered that old N1,000, N500 and N200 notes should remain legal tender until December 31, 2023. On Wednesday night, top officials of the CBN and commercial banks confirmed to the PUNCH that the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, had directed DMBs to begin the disbursement of old N1,000, N500 and N200 notes to members of the public effective Thursday (today).  Sources at the meeting said the CBN would also be cancelling all the controversial cash withdrawal limits it put in place in recent months. The Ramadan moon has been sighted in Nigeria on Wednesday evening which means the holy month will begin on Thursday, March 23, 2023. The National Moon Sighting Committee made this known in a short statement released and signed on Wednesday, March 22, 2023.  The statement partly reads; "The National Moon Sighting Committee is pleased to report that so far there have been numerous reports of positive sighting of the crescent of Ramadan 1444H from different parts of the country. Akogun Wale Anomo Delivers Polling Unit for Sanwoolu/Ogunkelu with wide Margin

The Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area, Akogun Wale Raji Anomo has successfully delivered his Polling Unit to the All Progressives Congress in the ongoing Gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections.  The Chairman, Akogun Wale Anomo voted alongside his wife Yeye Sijuade at their Polling Unit, R.CM Primary School, Itoikin. At the close of poll, the results announced are as follows: For the Gubernatorial election,  APC 383 PDP 54  LP   8 House of Assembly  APC 384,   PDP 57 LP 4 Speaking with Newsmen earlier in the day, Akogun Anomo expressed his satisfaction on voter turnout and was highly optimistic of Victory for Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu, Hon. Sylvester Ogunkelu, Hon. Mustain Abiodun Tobun and all the APC House of Assembly Candidates across Lagos State.

The Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area, Akogun Wale Raji Anomo led a delegation of APC Stalwart to conduct a door-to-door campaign for the re-election of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu and Hon. Sylvester Ogunkelu in Odo-Temu Community where he extensively engaged the residents. In the company of the Chairman was the former Leader of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA Legislative Council, Hon. Badmus Muyideen; Ward Chairman, APC Ward R1, Mr. Jayesimi Ibrahim; CDA Chairman Mr. Edwin amongst others.
