IKOSI-EJINRIN LCDA CHAIRMAN ATTENDS STAKEHOLDERS ENGAGEMENT ON INCREASED TRAFFIC GRIDLOCK ALONG LEKKI FREE ZONE CORRIDOR.

In order to provide immediate solution and prevent future resurgence of the traffic situation along the Lekki Free Trade Zone corridor, which is caused by the influx of vehicular activities commuting along the corridor for numerous economic activity, the Executive Chairmen of all Epe , Ibeju-Lekki, Ikosi-Ejinrin, Eredo and Lekki LCDA (Epe Division LG/LCDA) in conjunction with the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation organized a one day engagement to present and intimate Stakeholders on the model developed by the Lagos State government to abate the incessant gridlock and to also get their  inputs on  effectively managing traffic along the corridor.



The program which was held yesterday Tuesday,18th April, 2023 had in attendance the Director of Transport, Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, Engr.Ojoowuro Olasunkanmi; Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, Akogun Wale Raji Anomo; Chairman Eredo LCDA, Hon. Akinloye Monsuru; Chairman Ibeju-Lekki LG, Engr. Abdullah Sesan Olowa; Chairman Lekki LCDA, Hon. Razak Bamidele Kasali and the Epe LG Chairman, Princess Surah Olayemi Animashaun. Representatives of Dangote Refinery, LFZDC, LFZ, Pinnacle Oil, NUPENG, FRSC, NPF, DSS and other stakeholders.

Some of the resolutions reached at the engagement session include;

 

The need to have a holding bay for trucks , pre- gate facilities and deployment of E-call up application system.

The position of stakeholders , investors and Government were to be harmonized and worked upon as a blue print for holistic traffic management across the Lekki Free Zone corridor.


In the meantime, the Stakeholders suggested  plans which include the need for an interim arrangement to be put in place to decongest the roads by setting up a technical committee amongst others.


However, it was unanimously decided by the stakeholders that the timeline for delivery of recommended actions should not exceed 2 weeks from 20th April, 2023.
