Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA Celebrates as Governor Sanwoolu Inaugurates Two Housing Schemes
Today, May 25, 2023, marks a momentous occasion for the residents of Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area, particularly those in Odo-Onosa/Odo-Ayandelu and Ado-Ikosi. It is a day of great historical significance as the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu, officially inaugurated two housing schemes: LagosHoms Odo-Ayandelu/Odo-Onosa (consisting of 660 home units) and the Resettlement Housing Scheme in Ado-Ikosi.
Representing the Governor, the Special Adviser on Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations, Hon.Mobolaji Ogunlende, attended the ceremony at Odo-Ayandelu, while the Special Adviser on Commerce and Industry, Hon. Abiola Olowu, graced the occasion at the Resettlement Scheme. They expressed heartfelt appreciation to the people of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA for their overwhelming support during the last election, extending their gratitude to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Governor himself, and all other candidates of the All Progressives Congress. Mr. Governor stressed that the Housing Estate will go a long way to mitigate housing deficit in the state while the Ressetlement centre at Ado-Ikosi has been designed to provide support to refugees and displaced persons during emergencies. He also emphasized the importance of community cooperation with the government, highlighting that these housing projects are the result of such collaboration, peaceful coexistence, and a proven track record of being accommodating. Furthermore, they assured the residents of their commitment to further development not only in Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA and Epe Division but also throughout the entire Lagos State during the Governor's second term.
During his speech, the Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, Akogun Wale Raji Anomo, congratulated Governor Sanwoolu on his re-election, acknowledging the remarkable progress, stability, and prosperity that characterized his first term in office, benefiting Lagos State as a whole. The Executive Chairman expressed profound gratitude to the Governor for overseeing numerous projects that have positively impacted Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA. He commended the Governor's strategic vision, intentionality, and deliberate efforts in ensuring equitable development across all areas of Lagos State, beyond just the city center. Akogun Wale Anomo also revealed the willingness of other communities in the LCDA to allocate their lands for similar housing projects, echoing his promise to invite the Governor very soon to inaugurate several projects he has embarked upon since his assumption of office.
In his goodwill message, the Alayandelu of Odo-Ayandelu kingdom, H.R.M. Oba (Bldr) Asunmo Ganiyu Aderibigbe Balogun (JAMADE I), reflected on the challenges encountered since the inception of the project. He expressed gratitude to Governor Sanwoolu for successfully completing the housing scheme, which will undoubtedly contribute to the commerce and economic prosperity of the host communities. He remained optimistic about the positive impact the estate would have on the lives of Lagosians. Notably, he bestowed the title of "Otunba Atunluse of Odo-Ayandelu" upon Hon. Segun Adetola in recognition of his instrumental role in selecting the community to host the housing estate.
The occasion was graced by several esteemed royal fathers, including HRM Oba Rafiu Babatunde Balogun, Elejinrin of Ejinrin Kingdom; Oba Nelson Obayomi Ogunlari, the Olowu of Owu-Ikosi; Oba Elias Omoloro, the Olota of Otta-Ikosi; HRM (Oba) M.A Abdul, the Olofin-Ajaiye of Orugbo-Iddo; High-Chief (Engr.) Shakiru Kunle Odufowora, the Regent of Agbowa-Ikosi, among other esteemed high-chiefs, baales, and iyalojas in attendance.
The honorable Commissioner for Housing, Hon. Maruf Akinderu Fatai was represented at both events by Esv. (Otunba) Ayodeji Amodu, Senior Special Assistant while the Permanent Secretary ministry of Housing, Mr. Kamar Olowosago was ably represented by the Director of Administration and Human Resources, Mr. Akanji Kayode James Shadare (AKJ) of the Ministry of Housing. Other dignitaries present include Alh. Ganiyu Adio Akintola; Chief Olufemi Dehinsilu; Vice Chairman, Alh. Wasiu Dehinsilu;APC Chairman Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, Hon. Wittu Ajenifuja; APC Leaders; Supervisory Councillors; Council Legislators; the DPO of Agbowa Police Division, and several other distinguished individuals.
