Dr. Anomo Brings Relief to Ikosi-Ejinrin Widows with Empowerment Initiative


“A society is measured by how well it cares for its most vulnerable members.”

As part of efforts to support vulnerable groups, the Chairperson of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, Dr. Olajumoke Ajoke Anomo, on Monday, 8th September, extended financial and material assistance to widows selected across the 6 Wards of the LCDA under the initiative tagged Ikosi-Ejinrin Widows’ Enhancement Programme.


During the outreach, 100 widows received ₦10,000 cash support each, alongside staple food items including rice, garri, and beans, as well as clothing. Dr. Anomo assured that more widows would be reached as additional opportunities arise, pledging the Council’s continued commitment to women’s empowerment and social welfare.



She further expressed deep appreciation to the Executive Chairman, Otunba-Akogun Wale Raji Anomo, for his unwavering support of the initiative, describing him as a compassionate leader committed to the welfare of the less privileged. She urged the widows and residents present to continue praying for the Chairman’s success, strength, and good health as he leads the Council on its path of development.

In his remarks, the Executive Chairman, Otunba-Akogun Wale Raji Anomo, commended the Chairperson for spearheading the programme and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to grassroots welfare. “The widows in our communities deserve care, dignity, and support. Today’s initiative is part of our broader vision to ensure that no one is left behind in Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA,” he stated.





Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Tijani Modinat, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the gesture. “We are truly grateful to the Council for remembering us. Life has not been easy, but today’s support gives us hope and reminds us that we are not forgotten. May Allah bless our leaders for this kindness,” she said, as others nodded in agreement.




The beneficiaries were also encouraged not to lose hope, with a reminder that Almighty God, the greatest comforter, remains their ultimate support.


The programme was well attended by dignitaries, including Mrs. Aishat Dehinsilu, wife of the Vice Chairman; Hon. Shakirat Adesanya, Councillor Ward G1; Mrs. Hassan, wife of the Leader of the House; Hon. Jimoh Odumeru, former Vice Chairman; Hon. Anthony Ajewole, APC Secretary; Chief Mrs. Modinat Yusuf, APC Vice Chairman, Ikosi-Ejinrin; Mrs. Somoye, Head of WAPA Department; members of management staff, and other notable personalities.
