Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA Spelling Bee: Winners Emerge, Sofiat Mohammed’s Triumph Earns Mother Job from Chairman

Monday, 29th September 2025 was a day of intellectual flair and community pride at the Council Secretariat Multipurpose Hall as Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area hosted the preliminaries of the Annual Lagos State Spelling Bee Competition . The event brought together bright pupils and students from across the LCDA, and produced standout performances, none more compelling than that of Sofiat Mohammed . Sofiat, JSS3 student of Community Junior Academy, Odo-Ayandelu , clinched first place in the Secondary School category. She previously made headlines in 2022 when she won the Primary School category at both LCDA and state levels and was awarded a ₦250,000 scholarship by the Executive Chairman, Otunba-Akogun Wale Raji Anomo . IKOSI-EJINRIN LCDA HOLDS MENSTRUAL HYGIENE ENLIGHTENMENT FOR TEENAGE GIRLS

In a bid to promote healthy living and empower the girl child, Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area on Wednesday 17th September, 2025 organized a special enlightenment program on menstrual hygiene for teenage girls drawn from secondary schools across the LCDA. The event was held at the Council Secretariat, Agbowa . The program, themed “Menstrual Hygiene: Caring for the Girl Child,” was facilitated by the Council Chairperson, Dr. Olajumoke Nafisat Anomo , a seasoned medical doctor, who also served as the host.  In her welcome address, Dr. Anomo explained the rationale behind the initiative, urging the students to pay close attention and participate actively. She further demonstrated practical steps in maintaining proper menstrual and general hygiene, equipping the girls with knowledge for healthier and more confident living. 24 ROADS FOR LAGOS EAST: ABIRU’s UNPRECEDENTED INFRASTRUCTURE STRIDES GATHER MOMENTUM

9 Roads delivered already The Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District , Distinguished Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA , has once again demonstrated his commitment to people-focused leadership as he delivered 9 completed roads and set machinery in motion for the construction of 15 additional ones, bringing the total number of road projects under his watch to 24 across Lagos East. On Monday, Senator Abiru embarked on an inspection tour of the completed roads, which include Ojokoro Road (Agric), Nurudeen Owolabi , Alogba (Lowa), Apena Jimbo , Jalajugbo, Ibu Owo, Agunfoye , Ojediran, and Andu/Oshikoya. The visit turned into a celebration as residents, community leaders, and motorists trooped out to welcome the Senator with songs of appreciation for his timely intervention. ANOMO INTRODUCES ₦50,000 MONTHLY SUPPORT ALLOWANCE FOR PRIMARY SCHOOLS IN IKOSI-EJINRIN

In a bold step to further strengthen the foundation of basic education, the Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area , Otunba-Akogun Wale Raji Anomo , has introduced a Primary School Support Allowance for all public primary schools within the LCDA . Under this new initiative, each of the 17 public primary schools in Ikosi-Ejinrin will receive a monthly allowance of ₦50,000 to support their smooth operations and day-to-day running. The Chairman made this announcement when the Education Secretary, Epe LGEA , Otunba Shittu Aliu Idowu , alongside the leadership of AOPSHON (Association of Primary School Head Teachers of Nigeria), Ikosi-Ejinrin chapter, paid him a congratulatory visit at the Council Secretariat. Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA Flags Off ‘Back to School’ Initiative with Free Exercise Book Distribution

In a bid to support quality education and ease the financial burden on parents, the Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area , Otunba-Akogun Wale Raji Anomo , has launched the Back to School initiative with the distribution of free exercise books to pupils across public primary schools within the council. The exercise, which took place earlier today, was carried out on behalf of the Chairman by the Vice Chairman, Alhaji Wasiu Dehinsilu, accompanied by the Chief of Staff, Hon. Jayesimi Ibraheem, and the Council Leader, Hon. Hassan Mustapha Owolabi. Benefiting schools included Baptist Day Primary School, Agbowa ; Methodist Primary School, Agbowa ; St. John Primary School, Sala; and RCM Primary School, Ejinrin. Dr. Anomo Brings Relief to Ikosi-Ejinrin Widows with Empowerment Initiative

“A society is measured by how well it cares for its most vulnerable members.” As part of efforts to support vulnerable groups, the Chairperson of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, Dr. Olajumoke Ajoke Anomo, on Monday, 8th September, extended financial and material assistance to widows selected across the 6 Wards of the LCDA under the initiative tagged Ikosi-Ejinrin Widows’ Enhancement Programme. During the outreach, 100 widows received ₦10,000 cash support each, alongside staple food items including rice, garri, and beans, as well as clothing. Dr. Anomo assured that more widows would be reached as additional opportunities arise, pledging the Council’s continued commitment to women’s empowerment and social welfare. IKOSI-EJINRIN LCDA HOLDS SENSITIZATION CAMPAIGN AGAINST DOMESTIC & SEXUAL VIOLENCE

Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has joined forces with the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency to champion the fight against Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV). As part of the commemoration of Domestic and Sexual Violence Awareness Month, the Council organized a Purple Campaign themed “SGBV – It Concerns Us All.” The sensitization exercise, held at the Council Secretariat and across communities in Ikosi-Ejinrin, recorded wide participation from community leaders, market women, youth groups, advocacy organizations, and residents at large. Leading the campaign, Mrs. Olajumoke Ajoke Anomo, Chairperson of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, charged residents to rise against all forms of abuse, stressing that silence only empowers perpetrators. “We must create safe spaces in our homes, schools, markets, and religious centers.
